Youth Workgroups
Youth Workgroups
Based on the main themes from the consultation, 4 workgroups, comprising about 120 of those who have participated in the consultations and representatives from youth organisations, were set up to shape the ideas into tangible proposals.

The four workgroups are:

1. Youth Action: Making a Difference
2. Youth Biz: Nurturing Young Entrepreneurs
3. Youth Connect: Identifying with the Nation
4. Youth Reloaded: Opportunities for All

The workgroups facilitated by Co-Chairs comprising prominent members of the community and advised by MPs Dr Maliki Osman (Parliamentary Secretary, MCYS), Ms Penny Low and Dr Chong Weng Chiew. The workgroups were also supported by MCYS, NYC and resource persons from the various relevant Ministries.

More details about the workgroup topics and the co-chairs of the workgroups.
The workgroups have been working on their proposals since October 2004, and have completed their work. The selected proposals that they highlighted to the media on 2 Apr 05, as well as the full reports with their detailed and comprehensive proposals are posted here.

Formalizing the Youth Workgroup Process

Moving forward, MCYS will continue to sustain the workgroup exercise as an important platform to engage young Singaporeans and give them a stake in community and national affairs.

Future workgroups will build on the experience from this exercise, address a more diverse range of issues, and engage a wider segment of Singaporeans. Such platforms will give our youth meaningful opportunities to develop a confident voice and be active citizens in community and national affairs.
