Sports School
The Singapore Sports School is a new government initiative to usher in a new golden era of sporting excellence. Built under the auspices of the MCYS, it aims to cater to student athletes who want to realise their potential in sports but are unable to do so because of the demands of our educational system.

The School is one of the main recommendations of the Committee On Sporting Singapore. The School occupies over seven hectares of land at Woodlands Drive 15 and was officially opened in January 2004.

It is a school for students who want to do well in both sports and studies. It provides an alternative educational system with a flexible curriculum, one that allows the athlete to be developed to his/her fullest potential without fear of compromising on his/her studies.

The School is a co-educational, residential boarding school and offers top-class facilities, training and full sports science support in eight sports: Football, Swimming, Badminton, Table-tennis, Sailing, Bowling, Athletics and Netball. Each sport has its own academy in the School and is staffed by a head coach, one or two other assistant coaches, a general manager and a team of sports scientists.
