Child Care Services |
|
Child Care Centres provide full day and half-day care programmes to children below the age of 7 years. Most centres admit children from 18 months onwards. Some centres provide infant care services to children aged 2 months to 18 months. In addition to providing working parents with reliable care services, Child Care Centres have programmes aimed at educating and developing pre-school children through effective early childhood education programmes in a safe and conducive environment. |

Disability Services |
|
There are various services and programmes in place for people with disabilities to help them integrate into society with the support from their families and caregivers.
Day activity centres; sheltered workshops and hostels are some of the services available. Some of the programmes available include: training in daily living skills; social skills development; vocational abilities development; art and hobby craft skills; occupational therapy; functional mobility and physiotherapy

Eldercare Services |
|
The Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports works closely with the voluntary welfare organisations to provide community-based programmes and residential care such as homes for the aged, senior activity centres and day activity centres for the elderly. Some of the services and programmes include: sheltered housing and residential care for the elderly; recreational and social activities; handicraft activities; hotline and counselling centre; public education; catering to daily needs of the residents; drop in centres and keep fit exercise sessions. |

Family Services |
|
Family Service Centres are neighbourhood-based focal points of family resource which everyone can turn to on any family-related matters. Some of the services available in the Family Service Centres are: individual and family counselling; family life education; before & after school care; youth programmes; children's enrichment classes; information and referral and helpline service. |

Kindergarten Services |
|
Kindergartens are 'schools' that provide a structured 3-year pre-school education programme for children aged 3 to 6. The 3-year programme consists of Nursery, Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2. Kindergartens function daily, five days a week, with schooling hours ranging from 3 hours to 4 hours each day. The daily programme of each level includes learning activities that develop language and literacy skills, basic number concepts, simple science concepts, social skills, creative and problem solving skills, appreciation of music and movement and outdoor play. |

ComCare - Helping the Needy |
|
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced on 19 January 2005 that the government will be setting up an endowment fund, called the Community Care Fund (ComCare Fund) to fund programmes which help needy Singaporeans. |

Student Care Services |

Student Care Centres provide (SCCs) provide care for school-going children aged 7 to 14 years old who do not have alternative care arrangements before or after school. The centres ensure that the children are constructively occupied while their parents are at work. Some of the services and programmes at SCCs are: supervised schoolwork; computer-integrated programmes; library for children and parents; parental educational programme and special school holiday programme |

Community Development Councils |
|
The Community Development Council (CDC) functions as a local administration of its District, initiating, planning and managing programmes to promote community bonding and social cohesion. The CDC also provides various community and social assistance services delegated from the Ministries. Some of the services and programmes available at the councils include: Job Matching Service; Government Assistance Schemes; Skills Upgrading Programme and Healthcare Assistance for Elderly. |

Voluntary Welfare Organisations |
|
A voluntary welfare organisation is a non-profit-making, voluntary set-up governed by an elected volunteer board. It promotes and provides social and community services in financial, emotional, educational, health and social aid and support. A VWO caters for those in need, distress or at-risk and helps the disadvantaged and disabled to be independent. It is driven by a strong spirit of volunteerism. A VWO works with volunteers, government authorities, public and private organisations and the community. |
