Syariah Court
The SYC offers counseling for Muslim couples with marital difficulties; mediation in divorce cases with the aim to settle the ancillary issues amicably; and, providing adjudication on divorce and related issues under the provisions of the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA). The SYC can also hear cases relating to betrothal, nullity of marriage and judicial separation. Further, the SYC is empowered to issue Inheritance Certificates on the estates of Muslim deceased persons.

The Syariah Court Website aims to educate the public on the consequences of divorce and its impact on every member of the family particularly young children. It also offers useful tips on strengthening the family apart from explaining the different types of divorce under Islamic law and the Court process involved in a divorce proceedings.
