| Mission |
| The mission of STAR is to be a centre that specialises in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and trauma, by providing specialised treatment services to victims and their family; specialised training, consultation and supervision to other professionals and caregivers who work with such families; as well as conducting and facilitating local research in child abuse and neglect. |

| Strategies |
- To provide treatment for young victims of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, and their families, so as to aid in their recovery.
- To provide treatment for parents/caregivers who physically or sexually abuse their children.
- To provide specialised training for staff and community partners in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and trauma.
- To partner with community agencies to expand the provision of treatment and support services for victims and families.
- To conduct treatment efficacy research for STAR programmes, as well as collaborative research with external agencies, so as to improve local knowledge and understanding of child abuse.
- To develop best practice guidelines of professional psychological management of child physical, emotional and sexual abuse in Singapore.
