| Mission |
| The mission of the FHS is to be a widely recognised one-stop centre in Singapore which provides a wide range of high quality specialized assessment and treatment services for the high risk young persons (and families) or adults who have criminogenic needs and risks. They may be in custody or on community based orders supervised by the different branches in RPD. |
 |
| Background |
| In 2003, Forensic Health Services (FHS) was formally set up as a section of PSU which aims to provide a wide range of high quality specialised assessment and treatment services. The FHS intends to continue to develop expertise and specialisation in two core areas of serious or chronic antisocial behaviours, namely sexual and violent offending behaviours. |
 |
| Strategies |
- To address criminogenic needs of young people and to assist them to make choices to stop offending and to maximise healthy behaviour in order for them to integrate safely within the community.
- To promote a multisystemic approach to young offenders' forensic health by taking into account the broad social, familial and cultural issues.
- To provide specialised training and consultation for staff and community partners in serious or chronic offending behaviours.
- To provide services based on current international standards and backed by evidence-based evaluation.
- To conduct treatment efficacy research for FHS programmes, as well as collaborative research with external agencies, so as to improve local knowledge and understanding of offending.
